The AIIB appraisal mission is set to visit KWSSIP for its Phase-2 assessment
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has announced an appraisal mission for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project-2 (KWSSIP-2). The mission is scheduled to take place from December 9 to 16, 2024, in Karachi.
The mission aims to assess the project’s readiness for AIIB’s appraisal approval, focusing on procurement, environmental and social (E&S) management, and financial management.
The mission team comprises specialists in project leadership, environmental management, social development, procurement, and financial management. These experts will engage with key stakeholders, including the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation and the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), to ensure the project’s preparedness.
The agenda includes field visits to inspect water supply networks, wastewater treatment facilities, and other planned project interventions. Technical discussions will cover procurement readiness, financial management, and environmental and social safeguards.
The mission will conclude with the preparation and review of an Aide Memoire, followed by a wrap-up meeting with senior officials from Sindh’s Planning & Development Board.
