Young Girl Dies After Falling into Open Sewer in Sadiqabad; Assistant Commissioner Replaced
SADIQABAD: A tragic incident in Aslam Town’s Main Street claimed the life of a young girl after she reportedly fell into an uncovered sewer, raising fresh concerns over public safety and municipal infrastructure in the city.
According to local residents, the sewer had been left without a protective cover, leading to the fatal accident. The incident has sparked widespread concern among residents, who questioned the performance of the relevant civic authorities and called for an immediate survey and securing of open manholes and sewers across the city to prevent similar tragedies.
Sources said the incident was followed by administrative changes. After the transfer of Municipal Committee Chief Officer Zohaib Laghari, Assistant Commissioner Sadiqabad Imran Rasool Ranjha has also been replaced.
According to sources, Salman Qayyum Sheikh has been appointed as the new Assistant Commissioner of Sadiqabad.
Residents have urged the newly appointed administration to prioritize improvements in sanitation, drainage, and public safety infrastructure. They also called for immediate action to identify and eliminate hazardous locations that pose risks to the lives of citizens.
