Karachi: DHA and Clifton to Receive 10 Million Gallons of Additional Water Daily Under Damlotti Pipeline Project
KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has taken an important step to improve the city’s water supply, with the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) and the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) signing an agreement for the construction of the Damlotti Pipeline Project.
Under the project, a new pipeline will be constructed to supply additional water from Damlotti to Karachi. According to Mayor Murtaza Wahab, once completed, the project will provide 10 million gallons of additional water per day to Defence and Clifton, helping reduce water shortages in the two areas.
Wahab said construction of the Damlotti Pipeline Project would begin next week, with the project targeted for completion within 12 months. The project is expected to cost approximately Rs14 billion.
The mayor said the supply of an additional 10 million gallons of water daily would be an important development in efforts to address Karachi’s water shortage. He added that the project was a joint effort of the Sindh government and the Water Corporation.
He said the water supply system in Karachi was being further improved and strengthened with the cooperation of the Sindh government. Wahab also expressed gratitude to the Sindh government for its support for the Damlotti pipeline project.
Senior officials attended the agreement-signing ceremony, including FWO Head Brigadier Adnan Akhtar Ali, Station Commander Brigadier Imran Asghar, DHA Administrative Officer Brigadier Ameer Nawaz Khan and Local Government Secretary Dr Wasim Shamshad.
The ceremony was also attended by Member of the National Assembly Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Pakistan Peoples Party leader Syed Najmi Alam, Karachi Mayor’s spokesperson Karamullah Waqasi, KW&SC CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui and COO Engineer Asadullah Khan.
Board Secretary Abdul Raqeeb, Damlotti Project Director Muhammad Zahid and senior officials from the Water Corporation and other relevant institutions also participated in the ceremony.
