Residents Demand Immediate Action as Faulty Sewerage System Causes Hardship in Chishtian’s Mehboob Colony

CHISHTIAN: Residents of Mehboob Colony in Chishtian have urged the authorities to take immediate action after a faulty sewerage system left streets inundated, causing serious inconvenience to the local population. According to residents, stagnant sewage has disrupted daily life for several days, making it difficult for pedestrians—particularly elderly people, women and children—to move around safely.

Locals said the poor sanitation conditions are inconsistent with the Punjab government’s “Suthra Punjab” initiative and alleged that the Municipal Committee Chishtian has failed to restore the sewerage system despite repeated complaints. They claimed that the prolonged drainage problem has deprived residents of basic municipal services and raised concerns about public health and environmental hygiene.

Citizens and representatives of local social groups have appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary, the Bahawalpur Commissioner and other relevant authorities to ensure the immediate restoration of the sewerage system, improve drainage arrangements across the city and take appropriate action against officials found negligent in addressing the issue.
