Chishtian Residents Demand Probe Into Substandard Development Work Done in Name of Beautification

CHISHTIAN – Serious questions are being raised over the poor quality of construction work on ongoing projects launched in the name of beautifying the city and other development schemes. Experts and citizens have demanded an immediate investigation into these works.

According to sources, the quality of rampant construction work carried out by contractors is extremely poor. Fundamental flaws have been found in the design of the sewage system. Experts point out that a proper flow gradient for sewage drainage and a raised plinth level for manholes are essential. However, most manholes have been left open at the bottom, causing wastewater to seep underground, settling silt and preventing the drainage system from functioning correctly.

Local sources also reported that lush green trees are being cut indiscriminately without consulting local communities, creating environmental hazards and making life difficult for residents.

Questions are also being raised about whether these contractors possess the necessary technical qualifications and experience to carry out such construction work. Citizens believe the compromised quality of work on these projects clearly points to collusion by the local administration and political patronage.

Public circles have demanded that all these construction projects be comprehensively reassessed, that an investigation be conducted through a reputable construction consultancy firm, and that action be taken against contractors responsible for poor and substandard work. They further demanded that future construction contracts be awarded based on technical qualifications rather than political influence. Citizens also called for an immediate ban on the unnecessary cutting of trees.
