Punjab’s First Smart Water Meter Project Launched in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has launched Punjab’s first Smart Water Meter Project.
During the first phase, 8,400 smart water meters will be installed across the city. According to JICA experts, the advanced system will enable Wasa to remotely monitor water consumption, detect leakages and wastage, and carry out automatic meter readings.
The smart meters will be integrated with Wasa’s existing digital infrastructure to improve operational efficiency and water management.
Wasa Managing Director Saqib Raza said the project would ensure transparent billing, enhance revenue collection, reduce energy costs and promote equitable distribution of water. He added that the initiative marks another significant step toward providing modern, transparent and efficient water services to the citizens of Faisalabad with the support of Japanese experts.
