Punjab Expands WASA Network to Every City, Says CM Maryam Nawaz

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced that the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA)has been expanded to every city across Punjab, describing the initiative as a major step toward improving urban water supply and sanitation services.

Speaking at an official event, the Chief Minister said that when she assumed office, WASA was operational in only a limited number of cities. However, following substantial public investment amounting to billions of rupees, the agency’s institutional framework has now been established across all cities of the province.

Maryam Nawaz stated that the expansion was not limited to creating new administrative structures. She said the Punjab Government has also equipped the newly established WASA offices with the machinery, vehicles, pumps, and other operational resources required to deliver efficient water supply, sewerage, and drainage services.

The Chief Minister emphasized that strengthening urban municipal services remains one of the government’s key priorities, adding that the expansion of WASA will enhance the capacity of local authorities to respond more effectively to water management, sanitation, and drainage challenges across Punjab.

She reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to investing in modern municipal infrastructure and improving the quality of public services for citizens throughout the province.
